Police have been using radar guns since 1960. The X-band and K-bands are almost never used. Ka-Band is the Police Radar used Nationwide. These units are available in remote custom installed models and also available as dash / windshield and sun visor mounted models. If you are going to trust detectors to avoid tickets, get one of these brands.

  Laser guns operate in short-range; the maximum ticketing range is about 1200 ft. Diffusers buy you time to slow down in time before police can target your vehicle. Laser guns must be held very steady to obtain enforceable readings. Most often, officers will use a tripod to limit errored readings. If you have no diffusion, you most likely will get the ticket.
